King John's Castle

The castle was built as a military stronghold and used as a barracks which determined the overall look and feel.
Glenstal Abbey

Glenstal Abbey was built in the 1830s for the Barrington family. It was designed as a castle in the 12th century.
A secondary school for boys was opened in September 1932. The first headmaster was Fr Columba Skerret.
Adare Manor

The plans for the Manor House were begun in 1832 for the 2nd Earl of Dunraven and his wife, Lady Caroline Wyndham.
Mungret College

In 1858 the commissioners of education opened an agricultural college in Mungret. In 1974 it closed as a school for the last time.
It is now being occupied by Mungret Community College secondary school and Limerick Christian Centre.

It ws constructed around 3200BC, making it 1,000 years more ancient than Stonehenge.

Rock of Cashel

The rock is over 1,000 years old, and rises about 200 feet into the air.
The rock's largest remaining building is St. Patrick's Cathedral which was built between 1235 and 1270
Kilmainham Gaol

Known for its terribly dirty and disgusting living conditions the goal was home to a lot of criminals, female, male and even children, some of them as young as ten years old.
GPO

During the Easter Rising of 1916, the GPO served as the headquarters of the uprising's leaders.
The building was destroyed by fire in the course of the rebellion. The Irish Free State government repaired it some years later. The facade is all that remains of the original building.
