The voyage
Colombus set sail on the 3rd of august 1492
they took on fresh supplies at the canary islands
on the 12th October 1492 the crew saw land
Colombus named this land San Salavador
he was convinced he had hit India however it was the continent of America and the Caribbean
This is partially why the Caribbean is referred to as the West Indies
he spent two months exploring the islands around San Salvador
he returned to Spain in early 1943
