Simile
A comparison between one thing and another using 'like' or 'as' e.g. ( As busy as a, like a diamond in the sky )

Alliteration
When the same letter or sound is repeated at the beginning of closely linked words e.g. ( Round the ragged rocks, She sells sea shells by the sea shore )
Personification
A comparison giving human traits ( qualities, feelings, action or characteristics ) to non-living objects ( things, colours, qualities or ideas )
Sibilance
repeated 's' sound in poetry or prose; generally a gentle, soothing sound e.g. ( shhh! )
Rhythm
A strong, regular pattern of movement or sound
Rhyme
When words or the endings of words sound the same; a word with the same sound as another e.g. ( White and night, cat rhymes with hat )

Metaphor
A metaphor that says something is something else that it could not normally be called e.g. ( Sarah is the apple of her father's eye, the moon is a ghostly galleon... )

Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds within words e.g. ( Free as a breeze, "Strips of tinfoil winking like people" Sylvia Plath, "The Bee Meeting" )
