The Union of Castilla and Aragón
In 1469 Isabella I married Ferdinand II
The king of Castilla died on 1474
This death broke up a civil war between the followers of king's daughter, Joanna la Beltraneja who had the support of Portugal and Isabella who had the support of Aragón
Isabella won the war 1479
In 1479 Ferdinand II became king because his father died
This resulted the union between Castilla and Aragón
But each kingdom mantaines its institutions, laws, language, currency and internal boundaries.
Domestic reforms
To reduce the autonomy of the kingdoms of the Hispanic Monarchy
Viceroy was created
The Inquisition was established
The power of the General Courts was reduced
To restrict the autonomy of the urban oligarchies
The monarchs appointed the mayors
The sortition system
To weaken the power of the nobility

To improve international relations
The Diplomatic corps were extended
This were the corporations which represented the monarchs in other kingdoms
The new monarchy demanded some domestic reforms to comply some objectives
