It's basically the emphasis or weight we place on a specific syllable of a word when pronouncing it.
Prominence
It deals with stressing words in a sentence to convey some meaning.
Connected Speech
Spoken language, as in a normal conversation.
Two things can happen here
Elision
We show it normally when removing a particular sound in a word, normally because we're speaking fast
Assimilation
It means when two sounds become more similar to each other because they are spoken consecutively
