THE DIRECT METHOD
OBJECTIVES
(NASYITAH)
- intends for students to learn how to communicate in the target language.
- Teaching the students how to use the language spontaneously and orally, linking meaning with the target language through the use of realia, pictures and pantomime (Larsen-Freeman 1986:24).
- aims to build a direct relation between experience and language, word and idea, thought and expression.
- This method based on assumption that the learners should experience the new language in the same way he/she experienced his/her mother tongue.
- to teach communication skills in a foreign language, partly how to think in that language and by NOT involving L1 in learning process.
