goal: to be stronger than other countries
Militarism is the building of a large standing army

the goal is that countries would protect their allies.
alliances are unions formed for mutual benefit

imperialism
the goal is to do it for naval dominance or for economic reasons
imperialism is stronger countries dominating weaker countries

the goal is to make your countries above others
nationalism is the beleif that your country or its people are better than others
