moodboards
definition:
A collage of images, pictures, materials and pieces of text made to project a style or concept. you can make digital mood boards using sounds or images. physical mood boards use pictures.
purpose:
to project an individual style or concept.
to inspire someone to make new products.
To generate ideas by collecting a wide range of material that give a “feel” for what is needed. To stimulate creativity and innovative approaches.
where they are used:
in schools for coursework
As art
for revision

where they are used:
Used with any project to show a range of ideas. To show the connections/links between different parts of the project. To illustrate all aspects of a projects so that the range of activities needed for a work plan can be included.
visualisation diagrams
Definition:
A visualisation diagrams provide a draft layout for a final static image media product. Often hand drawn, shows someone else what the product will look like.
Purpose:
to show someone else what the product will look like
to help plan the look of a product
to provide a graphic designer with enough information to create what you have in mind
Where they are used:
In the film industry, magazines, posters or advertisements. when manufacturing a product so others know what it is supposed to look like. can be used to visualise costumes, car designs CD covers etc.

logos - of the client or organisation that it relates to.
colours - (and colour schemes) to make it more eye catching.
text - showing position and style, e.g. the name of the product/service being promoted.

scripts
Definition:
A script is a written piece for a movie or a production, and is the first thing that is ever produced in a media product - before a storyboard is produced. scripts are produced by a group of script writers, barely ever by one person
purpose:
Identify the location of where the action takes place - indoors or outside in the street
Who will be in the scene (such as actors and narrators)
provide stage directions for actors and production crew
provide dialogue (speech) for actors and other characters
To support a pitch or proposal for an idea.
to tell a story for a reader and generate interest.
where they are used:
video productions (adverts, films ect.)
audio productions (adverts, jingles, radio plays)
Animation products (short films, web adverts)
Computer game with story telling scene or interaction between game characters.
