Differentiated Instruction: Algebra 2A Transformation rules and graphs
Step 1: Tiered pre-assessment on Transformations on Illuminate
Some knowledge of concept
Khan Academy
The 12 students who showed some knowledge of the concept
These student will be working on mastering the concept on Khan Academy. They will be working on the 3 different aspects of the concept separately.
All 3 groups will be assessed after the differentiated lesson plan on Illuminate. This testing software will allow me to gather the data and compare the pre & post test results.
Limited knowledge of concept
Teacher group
The 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge of the concept.
ESL students: 3 of these students are having issues with the math vocabulary associated with this concept.
These students will be creating flash cards of the vocabulary used in this concept, then testing each other.
Potential SPED students: These 2 students have shown signs of learning deficiencies in their recall, hyperactivity, and lack of basic skills, such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
These students will be working with the SPED instructor in a different classroom for a portion of the period.
The SPED instructor will be assessing their skills to determine if they might be eligible for SPED assistance.
Advanced students
Quizlet Group
The 5 students who answered most, including the most difficult questions.
These students will be working on a matching game that will test their knowledge of how graphs relate to functions. This game will require students to understand how all 3 aspects of the concept relate to each other.
Tiered Assessment on Illuminate
Level 2 Questions: Rules
Identify the transformation rules for the following functions
