Interim/Benchmark
Interim/benchmark assessments are used to see where students are in their learning. They are used to track where students are and are used to help determine if they will pass future assessments.
MAP: A computer test to show achievement and progress in math and reading in BOY, MOY, and EOY.
STAAR: A standardized test given In Texas to assess students achievements and learning within grade level.
Formative
Formative assessments help ensure students achieve goals/standards and are part of instructional process. Are used to get feedback.
Practice Tests: Practice tests are tests that are not standardized and used more for teachers to get feedback on students learning. Practice exam scores can be used to modify instruction and learning to then help students achieve and pass actual tests.
Bell RIngers: Involve quick writes or a couple of questions over topics. They are low staked and help provide feedback to the teacher as well.
Performance
Performance assessment is an assessment or task that is performed by students rather than answering questions.
Skit: Having students creating a skit can be a form of assessing students comprehension over reading. This can be used as a way of retelling.
Projects may require students to apply their knowledge and skills while completing the assigned task. This includes reports, diagrams, and maps.
Summative
Summative assessments are used to evaluate students learning at the end of the semester or unit or chapter. These also include standardized tests.
End of Unit Chapter Tests: Tests asses students over the unit chapter. This is also like a summarization of what the student has learned over the unit.
End of Six Weeks Exams: These exams are used to assess students over what they learned within the prior six weeks.
