Formative
Definition: Formative assessments are a low-stakes way to gauge student progress or misunderstandings.

Definition: A formal exam : that focuses on student comprehension--this can be used as factual data to make decisions regarding students.
Example: 9 Weeks assessment: Students take a formal exam over thing that they have learned over the course of 9 weeks

A form of assessment that requires students to create something rather than complete an assignment in the form of an exam.
Example: Base 10 blocks: Have students create numbers using base 10 blocks in order to show their knowledge.
