Pathophysiology
Combination of airflow obstruction, bronchial hyper-responsiveness and an underlying inflammation
Triggers can be an allergen or irritant (Definition, Pathophysiology and Pathogenesis of Asthma, and Natural History of Asthma, 2007)
Includes the involvement of mast cells, eosinophils, T lymphocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and epithelial cells
Treatment

Clinical Presentation
Manifests as coughing, shortness of breath, and wheezing (Lynn & Kushto-Reese, 2015).
