S.T.E.A.L.O Ponyboy
Looks
"I have light brown, almost-red hair, and greenish grey eyes" (1).
"My hair is longer than most boys wear theirs, squared off in the back and long at the front and sides.." (1)
14 years old
"How old are y'all? Fourteen, I said" (25)

Speech
Ponyboy is also an empathetic character. He is able to relate to a wide variety of emotions from a lot of different people.
"Things are rough all over" (35)
"I believe you," I said. "We'd better get back out there with the popcorn or Two it'll think I ran off with his money" (35)
This quote shows how Pony tries to understand Cherry even though he has grown up learning to hate Socs. Pony is a Greaser and she is a Soc. Ponyboy is able to listen to what Cherry has to say and not toss it aside and play it off as useless drivel from a Soc. He understands that her problems are every bit as real and painful as his problems even though her kind of people hurt the greasers very badly and very often.
Thoughts
Introvert
"I kept remembering the faces of the Socs as they surrounded me, that blue madras shirt the blonde was wearing, and I could still hear a thick voice: 'Need a haircut greaser?' I shivered" (17).
Because introverts tend to be inward-turning, they also spend a great deal of time examining their own internal experiences. This is characterized in Ponyboy as with this quote we can see how he extensively thinks about the disputes between the Greasers and Socs long after they are over. He doesn't move on very quickly but continues to examine and dwell on his experiences depicting him as an introvert.
Effect on others
Agitates Dally
"You don't ever think, Darry broke in, not at home or anywhere when it counts. You must think at school, with all those good grades you bring home.." (13)
This quote shows how Darry has a strained relationship with Ponyboy because Ponyboy agitates him with his lack of common sense. Ponyboy's actions such as walking back from the movies alone, make Darry angry because he wants to keep the family together and keep Ponyboy safe. This is the effect Ponyboy has on Darry.
Actions
Introverted
"..I usually lone it anyway, for no reason except that I like to watch movies undisturbed so I can get into them and live them with the actors. When I see a movie with someone, it's kind of uncomfortable like having someone read your book over your shoulder"(2).
This quote shows how Ponyboy is introverted and likes doing things alone sometimes. He enjoys a little bit of solitude which is a sign that he is introverted.
Opinions
Greaser, Hood, Dangerous, Poor, Gang member, Violent
"Two Bit gallantly offered to walk them home - the west side of town was only about 20 miles away - but they wanted to call their parents and have them come get them" (37).
This quote indirectly shows how Cherry and Marcia don't trust the greasers in general (which includes Ponyboy) and are scared of them even after they showed no signs of hostility and were very friendly. This is because of the labelling and stereotyping of the greasers that depict them as dangerous hoods who are violent and participate in criminal activities. Cherry and Marcia are scared that the greasers will engange in some activity like that with them which is why they don't like the idea of walking home with the greasers. They also might not want to be seen with such people because of the status difference and the stereotyping.
