Trump's Hate Speech Directed to People of Color and the Justified Violent Reprecussions
Hate towards the immigrant
Trump has not failed in attacking every single group of people who are not a white man. However the majority of his hateful speech after becoming president is directed to Latino/a/x people or in his words, "the illegal immigrant"
In 2015 Trump launched his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants "rapists" who are "bringing crime" and "bringing drugs" to the US. His campaign revolved around the common theme of 'building a wall" to keep the immigrants out.
Trump used the fear tactic once again to put one group of people against the other. He wanted white Americans to fear the immigrant who wants to "come and rape women', "bring drugs" and enforce this historical image that people of color are "savage" or "uncivilized".
Donald Trump has used his social media platform as a way to promote his thinking and racist speech.
In this tweet Trump states multiple statistics supporting his idea that all immigrants are criminals. He does not consider the fact that same amount of white people if not more white people commit the same crimes and are not charged or convicted to shorter sentences.
Trump wanted to instill and enforce this fear of immigrants. He wanted people to believe that in allowing the entry of immigrants they would be allowing the entry of criminals, rapists, and murderers.
Trump tweet
This is yet another example of how Trump used his twitter platform to promote this message that all immigrants are criminals. He used a black man in this video to create the idea that he is not racist towards people based on their skin color rather on their citizenship status.
However based on past statements it is seen that this is not the case and Trump is racist towards all non-white groups of people.

Last year days before the mid term elections Trump released this racially charged ad about immigrants. The video contains footage from the court hearing of Luis Bracamontes, a Mexican immigrant who admitted to killing two police officers and feeling no remorse for doing so. The following caption says , "Democrats let him in" and "Democrats let him stay"
Trump uses this false argument that the Democrats let him stay when in reality he had been deported twice before under Republican administrations. After the video of Bracamontes there is a video of another Latino man who says that he has been deported before on charges of murder. And there are video throughout of large masses of people ambushing fences.
Trump created this video in response to the migrant caravan which was moving towards the United States border seeking asylum. He wanted people to fear the 'criminal immigrant'. He used images of ambush to show that "immigrants are savages who want to infest America and bring crime."When in reality these immigrants where coming to the US to flea the crime and violence that existed in their own countries.
Trump used these tactics and his media platform to gain support to build his wall. This idea of "Build a Wall" is one that has gone viral through the media causing much controversy but also gaining much support from Republicans and white people. Trump believes that in building this wall we are creating an unbreakable divide between us and the "undesirable criminal immigrants". This idea of building a wall is to secure the future of Americans and maintain white supremacy.
History of Hate
Trump has the reputation of being a "very successful business man". He has gained a very followed public platform and has used it to spread hateful speech directed towards people of marginalized identities.
Trump has a long history of racism and has publicly attacked every group of people of a marginalized identity. It is Trump's platform which allows him to publicly degrade groups of people.
In 1991 a book by John O' Donell, former president of Trump's Hotel Plaza quoted Trump's criticism of a black accountant: "Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes everyday. I think that guy is lazy. And it's probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is. I believe that."
In 2010 in response to the "Zero Ground Mosque" -a Muslim community center in lower Manhattan near the cites of the 9/11 attacks Trump used his appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman to referring to Muslims, "Well, somebody's blowing us up. Somebody's blowing us buildings and someone's doing a lot of bad stuff".
In 2011 Trump publicly made statements against President Obama and doubting the legitimacy of his citizenship. These accusations were then shut down when Obama released a picture of his birth certificate. He also argued that Obama was not a good enough student to get into Columbia or Harvard and demanded that Obama release his academic transcripts.
It is evident that Donald Trump has utilized his media platforms to share his extremely racist thoughts. However this all escalated the moment he became President because he was given the power to enact his prejudices in enforcing a system which already oppresses people.
Trump's hate speech in the media had real and negative effects on the public but this effect because more real and dangerous when he became the leader of his country. Donald Trump as a white successful business man felt entitled to say the things he said and even more so when he became president.
With his Presidency came the expansion of his media platform.
No other President in history had been publicly questioned on their citizenship and had to validate themselves. No other President has ever had to prove that they were in fact good enough to get into ivy league schools. Trump publicly questioned and harassed Obama with these questions to make a point that a black man can never progress to such an extent without cheating, that a black man is not good enough on his own to progress.
This instance is significant because it is the first time the Trump on media where Trump used 'fear' to put one group of people against another.
This use of 'fear' is used a justification of hateful speech and acts because the racist person believes they are simply "protecting themselves" seeing the 'other' as dangerous.
When the "Central Park Five" were wrongfully convicted for the assault and rape of a women in New York City, Donald Trump took out full page ads in all 4 major New York Newspapers to argue that the perpetrators "should be forced to suffer" and "be executed".
His supporters
People with existing prejudices felt that their prejudices were supported and reinforced by their own President and therefore racist people have become more public and aggressive with their hateful speech and actions towards Latino/a/x people.
Through the primaries and surveys it is seen that Trump is more popular amongst men with only 35% of women voters aligning with him. Most of his republican voters are older than 40. Trumps popularity is also consistently greater amongst those with less formal education. His popularity is greatest amongst those with lower household income. The majority of Trump supporters are low income middle or old white males.
A Pew survey conducted between June and July 2016 amongst people who voted for Trump showed that 86% of them believed that the Trump administration would make the immigration situation "a lot better" and "Make America Great Again".

This video shows Trump supporter's opinions on the construction of a wall and in response to the immigrant caravan. The older white gentleman said, "just shoot them". An older white women said, "it would be different if they came from Mexico and assimilated into our culture but that is not the case".
This image shows people rallying in support of the construction of the wall and Trumps immigration policy. This same language of getting rid of the other entitled by white supremacy and has been used historically on all people of color in America.
Other people with large media platforms have used their popularity to support Trump and promote the construction of the wall. This is Joy Villa who wore this dress to the Grammys.
The MAGA hat is one which has become an icon to Trump supporters. People wear these hats openly at rallies and in their public everyday lives to show their support for Trump and his motto of Making America Great Again.
Many people find hat to be very triggering. What America is Trump referring to? The America which eliminated and massacred millions of natives? The America that enslaved black people? The America that put Japanese people in concentration camps? Jim Crow America? White America? This hat is a symbol of hate towards people of color because it stands for the belief that America would be great if people of color were not here.

At a Florida rally in response to the migrant caravan Trump says, "what can we do to stop them? We can't" Then someone in the crowd says, "shoot'em" Trump laughs off this comment.

In this video Trump is referencing to the 4 women whom he told to "go back to their countries" more specifically Senator Omar but amongst that group was also Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. He tells these women to go back to their corrupt countries. This diverse group of women who worked twice as hard to get to their current positions are invalidated by the President and told that not only do they not belong in Senate but they don't belong in this country.
In response the people at this rally were chanting "send her back". Trumps response to this later was that the people chanting those things were "good patriots".
This is an image of Ku Klux Klan members celebrating Trump becoming president in North Carolina. Trumps presidency was not only a victory for Republicans but for the Klu Klux Klan and white supremacists.
Repercussions

This is a video of a white women verbally attacking a mother and her son who are doing yard work on a neighbors house. She calls them "animals", "drug dealers", and "rapists". There is a correlation and much of the language she is using could be considered an echo to what Trump has said about immigrants.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSkwuQ2Whhg
This is yet another video of a white women racially profiling a man who is working and calling him "illegal".She calls the police on him simply because she thinks that "he looks illegal" and she "doesn't want him ruining American lives". Once again this is all language echoed from what Trump has said.

This video shows the increase in hate crimes against Latino/a/x people in California. One older man was beaten with a brink and told to go back to his country. It has been proven that it is the current political climate around immigration which has fueled these hate crimes.
Racial profiling by police has also increased and it can be seen in the videos above people threatening to call the police on people who look "illegal". Latino/a/x's are most subject to stops, frisks, searches, and arrests. There have also been cases where people are beaten to death by police authorities.
The immigration policy has separated families and put children in ice detention centers where they are forced to sleep on the floor in cages and be separate from their mothers families.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=703XOt9Xoe8
The belief that immigrants are "criminals" and "animals" has created this idea that they are less than human therefore it is ok to treat them as though they are less. This has lead to the dehumanization of immigrant people.
ICE detention facilities have poor conditions were people are overcrowded in to stand only holding rooms for weeks without being able to shower or brush their teeth. Children have dies for not being able to receive proper medical attention. Women have had to drink out of toilets because they are not given water and gotten sore in their mouths. Children have had to represent themselves in court when they don't even know what is going on or why they are there. They are treated like criminals when they have no understanding of why they are separated from their parents who brought them here in hopes that they could have a better life.
The most recent hate crime is that of El Paso shooting which took place at a Walmart where a 21 year old white man gunned down 22 people. The shooter wrote a 2,300 word screed on an online message board 20 minutes before the shooting. The four page posting talked about a "Hispanic Invasion of Texas". The text talked about how "hispanics" are stealing American jobs and taking advantage of the welfare system and talked about immigrants as if they were an infestation of rodents. 22 lives were lost that day, to hate, to racism, to all the things President Trump represents.
Thesis: Donald Trump is a public figure and the President of the United States whom has used the media to spread hateful speech directed towards people of marginalized identities and in doing so created a justification for like minded people to act violently towards people of color.
