Diaphoretic (hot)
Induce perspiration and good blood flow to body surface
Sooth and soften skin
Cold and bilious fever
Stomachic
Prepared cold it is soothing to stomach
Combine with ginger for flatulent colic, heartburn, loss of appetite, sluggish intestinal canal
Tonic (cold)
Take for menstrual flow that is slow and painful
Nervine (sedative)
Calms hysterical cases
Makes one drowsy
Antispasmodic
Stimulant
Carminative
Emmenagogue
Beneficial to uterus (see tonic)
Externally Uses
Useful for rashes, and as poultice to reduce swelling
Used as hair rinse for blond hair
