Interim/Benchmark
What is an interim/benchmark assessment?
This kind of assessment is used periodically throughout the year and is used to evaluate if students are on the right track or not.

CFA:
These types of assessments are given once every couple of weeks to make sure all students are on the right track.
Formative
What is a formative assessment?
A formative assessment is something that is ongoing in the classroom and can be used to assess where students are struggling so that we can better help them
Think-Pair-Share:
The teacher will ask a question and the students are going to write down their answer. After everyone has their answer, the students are gong to share with a partner what they wrote.
Exit Tickets:
The teacher will either ask the students a question that they will write the answer to on a sticky note, or give them a paper to complete. As they leave they can place their sticky note in a designated area or turn in their paper.
Diagnostic
What is a diagnostic assessment?
This type of assessment is used as a form of a pre-assessment to see how students will do individually and what they already know. This is to be used prior to instruction.
Unit Pre-tests:
These are given to students before the start of a new unit to see what background knowledge they may already have.
KWL Charts:
These types of charts are filled out with the students about what they know, what they want to know, and then what they learned.

Performance
What are performance assessments?
These types of assessments require students to complete a task instead of taking a test.
Portfolios:
Students have to keep a running record of what they have done over the year in a binder, folder, or online.
Open-ended Exercises:
Students are asked questions that make them have to explore topics deeper. This could also be used by having students talk about what they noticed while doing a science experiment.
