Formative Assessments
Definition: Formative assessments assess students and give teachers feedback so they can modify instruction.
Think-Pair-Share: Students find a partner, think about the topic learned, then share their thoughts and ideas with a partner. Then, the whole class shares.
Four Corners: Students will be read aloud a question, then move to the corner (labeled A,B,C,D) that they believe is the correct answer. The whole class then discusses the answer.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: These assessments are checkpoints to gauge if students are on track with their learning.

Diagnostic
Definition: These assessments are pre-tests that assess a students strengths, weaknesses, and anything they may be confused about before instruction is given.

Pre-Tests: Teachers can give students a pre-test over the topic for that unit as a way to evaluate what they know and don't know.
