("Jalil had three wives and nine children"Chapter 1 Page 6…
-
I wonder what the point of having three wives and Jalil seems like a jerk.I can tell that the children do not like there father.I find it weird how when he was informed he had a new daughter he just shrugged.

Chapter 41-51
Quotes,"Tariq said that one of the men that who shared his cell had a cousin who'd been publicly fogged once for painting flamingos" Chapter 44 pg. 198,"Tariq asked if he could smoke"Chapter 44 pg. 200,"They would live in a small house on the edge of some town they've never heard of"Chapter 46 page 214
Questions. Why does Rasheed beat Laila so much? Why does Zalmia dislike Tariq? Why would Mariam turn herself in?
Reflections.I was really suprised when Mariam killed Rasheed. Honestly it was probably the best choice because that was the only way to stop him. Also if she wouldn't have killed him then he would have killed both of them.
Reflections.I realize that Mariam wants to keep the children safe but she doesn't really have to turn herself in. She could hide the evidence and no one would know it was her.It sucks that Mariam is sharing a cell with 4 children it shows how messed up their culture is.
It's weird how Mariam is treated like a celebrity in her cell for killing someone. The culture is so messed up like why would hundreds of people watch Mariam get executed. In the book Mariam was a great selfless character that pretty much changed Laila's life in exchange for hers.
