Unit 2. Interview
First Poll
One of the keys to the fruitful interview is the knowledge of when and how to probe, explore, scrutinize.
Categorization and Second Poll
The researcher has the responsibility of establishing cross-checks on the stories of the informants.
Casual Unstructured
The interviewer must find ways to get people to start talking about their perspectives and experiences without structuring the conversation or defining what they should say.
Direct Questioning
The questionnaires, consequently, can be useful in ethnographic work insofar as their use conforms to their principles.
Unit 1. Observation
Element Determination
The main observation requirements are, of course, an alert eye, a fine ear and a good memory.
Initial and General
Research is an inquiry, a search for new knowledge and a new understanding .
Empathy and Rapport Process
Observers can only achieve rapport with informants if they adjust to the routines and ways of doing things of the latter.
"Fly on the wall " technique
The researcher is, theoretically, oblivious to these processes, and adopts the "fly on the wall" technique to observe things as they happen, naturally, with the least possible interference from their presence.
