        this is a very good analogy since she is feeling his absence like he is supposed to be there with her, like she had never been without him, much like that an amputee feels when there old appendages are gone.

        This more than anything else shows that Rasheed really doesn't care about anything other than his son, the fact that he was so lenient with him and basically used all his money to buy things for him, even when he shouldn't, he even borrowed money from friends.
        
        His patience with Zalmai was a well that ran deep and never dried, chapter 40 page 296
        
        This is sad. I know he always wanted another sun, but to do what he does to the women in the house, even Aziza, and then not do anything to Zalmai when he does something even worse is just sad.
        
        And, really, what could be said, what needed saying, when you'd shoved the barrel of your gun into your wife's mouth, chapter 40 page 300
        
        Whenever he just walked calmly out of the room, I thought he accepted it, the fact that she finally stood up for herself. What I did not think, was that he would return with the gun.

        I do not know what caused him to cry. I don't know if something happened with Zalmai, or if he spoke badly about Tariq again, when Tariq was trying to help him

        This text is nice, I think it shows that Laila wants to do for Babi and Mammy, what they originally wanted to do for her brothers
