There are 2 alien races the loric and the mogadorians. The mogadorians destroyed lorien and there was only 18 survivors. 9 garde (The main kind that develop power/legacies and 9 cepan the gardes guardians) They escaped to earth and one day hope to return. Bound together by a curse that makes it so they only be killed in a particular order. 3 of them are dead, John is next in line, in this book john must fight for survival.
