Understand how to design technical theatre components, such as costumes, sets, props, makeup, lighting, and sound
Costuming :

Several sewing machines for the students to use to create their costume pieces. This one is called the Bernina 1008 which is fairly standard and easy to use.

Wacom drawing tablets to create costume designs.
Tons of fabrics for the students to choose from and some already made clothes they can use as bases.
Lighting
Paper and pens to create designs for gobos.
Aluminum foil and exacto knifes to cut out their final design and test them on lighting instruments.

The philosophy of my space is to allow students to discover several areas of technical theatre. The students will use other skills they're learning in my class such as playwriting and performance to write a play. Once the play is created, they will make something from every area (costuming, sound, lighting, and scenery) that could be used for their play.
