Treatment strategies
1x assist for Bed mobility
Position changing from Supine to Side lying every 2 hours
1x assist for sitting Balance
Loss of sensation in GBS patients can reduce their sitting balance
Max 2x assist for STS
Prolonged PROM such as the use of resting splints on the feet to avoid shortening of gastrocnemius, and reduce the extent of weakness
Fatigue and physical deconditioning can be experienced by Josie
Therefore use of aerobic exercise
Risk of Chest infections
Use of cough assist and breathing techniques ie ACT's to promote effective airway clearance
Outcome measures
STS
Time STS and see how long it takes the patient to perform this
Bed mobility
Role of other health professions

Modify the patients environment to make mobility easier such as the use of ramps and rails if the patient is requiring the use of a gait aid
Speech Pathologists
Orthotist
Develop a AFO or resting splint for Jose
Social Worker/Psychologist
Help the patient cope with the anxiety and psychological issues and complications associated with GBS
