What are the different types of Personality Diisorder?
Histrionic: common in males
Characterised by an over dramatic, self centred shallow affect and labile mood . Seductive and manipulative character.
Narcissistic: common in males
High self importance, lacks empathy, takes advantage, grandiose and needs admiration.
Emotionally unstable: Female predisposition
Borderline: feeling of emptiness, unclear identity and intense relationships. Threats or acts of self harm
Impulsive: inability to control anger, behaviour or organise activities
Anankastic: obsessive/compulsive: Equal
Worries and doubts about orderliness, control and perfectionism.
Sensitive to criticism. Indecisiveness and judgemental
Schizoid: Male predisposition
Emotionally cold and lacks interest in others. Has a rich fantasy world.
Anxious
Worries and is tense. Self conscious and insecure.... Fearful of negative evaluation from others seeks to be liked.
Paranoid: Male predisposition
Suspicious, preoccupied with conspiratory explanations, distrusts and likely to hold grudges
Dependent: more female dominated
Passive, clingy, submissive and excessive need for care. Feels hopeless if not in a relationship. They feel incomplete
What are general symptoms of a Personality Disorder?
Associated with big problems in occupation or socialising
Considerable personal distress is experienced
Manifestations begin before the age of 18
Present in a broad spectrum of personal and social situations
Prevailing chronic abnormal behaviour pattern. NOT isolated to solely one event
Markedly disharmonious attitudes and behaviours
What is a personality disorder?
Personality Disorders generally start below the age of 18 and are prevalent until middle age. It is there when they start to impact the patient less
Strange Personality Types are only important if they are maladaptive and cause suffering to the patients or others around them.

Normally medication is not an option. It will do nothing. Unless there is another pre-existing MH condition
