Cognitive Flow

Discussion Forum
Discuss how you might be able to create the right conditions in your class for your students to be able to experience flow either during specific activities or in the course of your regular routine.
Rocking Chair
I have one rocking chair in the corner which students can use when they need a break. It's a "peace corner." If students are stressed, anxious, or experiencing anything else which would prevent them from entering a flow state in class, they are allowed to take a 5 minute break in the chair to reset.
Routine
Having routines allow for more useable time during class for students to have the opportunity to enter a cognitive flow state.
PBL
We are a project-based learning school. Inherently, I think projects can create the right conditions for students to enter a flow state. When students have choice and voice in what they are doing or which way they are going to run with a project, I believe they are more likely to be able to enter a flow state.
Taking into account the resources for this unit, our discussions, and your own experiences and observations, what relationships or connections do you see between flow, play, and learning?
