lighting - you need good lighting to have a good crisp photo. if you are outside it should be at a time that it is very bright, but every photo has potential with editing.
angles - angles in photography are the key to a good photo, angles depicts where the shadow will fall. ( you really just have to worry about this if you are taking pictures outside or in natural lighting)
editing - there is many different things you can do with editing you can a person or thing in another place or you could even change the look of the object in the focal point
need to know
what is the difference between digital photography and film?
ANSWER: The most obvious difference between film and digital is the sensor used to take the photo. With film cameras, a film sensitive to light is placed behind the lens.
FILM: When a photo is taken the shutter opens for a short period of time and light hits the film. The outcome is a photo printed in the film. To take a new photo the film has to be rolled and a fresh clean film is placed behind the lens.
DIGITAL: With digital cameras, a fixed electronic sensor sometimes known as CCD is located behind the lens. The sensor is built from tiny light-sensitive sensors each representing a pixel.

terms to know
focal point (noun) - the photographers point of view, or an object in focus or the main point of the photo.
depth of field (noun) - The camera will focus on one distance, but there’s a range of distance in front and behind that point that stays sharp—that’s depth of field. Portraits often have a soft, unfocused background—this is a shallow depth of field. Landscapes, on the other hand, often have more of the image in focus—this is a large depth of field, with a big range of distance that stays sharp.
exposure (noun) - Exposure is how light or dark an image is. An image is created when the camera sensor (or film strip) is exposed to light—that’s where the term originates. A dark photo is considered underexposed, or it wasn’t exposed to enough light; a light photo is overexposed or exposed to too much light. Exposure is controlled through aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
