"It seemed to Mariam that this was a smile meant only for her. A private, married smile" (Pg 67 Ch 11)
I love this line because it shows that she is going into a stage of acceptance. At first she didn't like being married to him because he did not act like a good husband. Also she didn't like it because she was married against her will. But with this line it shows that Mariam is willing to give loving him a shot.

"She said men and women were equal in every way and there was no reason women should cover if men didn't" (Pg 101 Ch 16)
This is important to me because this is the first time they have verbally talked about the problem at hand. This problem is that women are still being treated as less than men. So having a teacher that says this is powerful and is a step in the right direction.

Ch 21 Hosseini - "It would become a meeting place for other Afghans who, like them, had fled the war." Pg 136
Ch 21 Hosseini - This makes a lot of sense to me because she doesn't understand the feelings she is feeling. The feeling she is feeling are feelings or lust. She for the first time is starting ti like boys in a more than friends sort of way.
