34 year old male tested HIV positive a year ago now has progressed diagnose of AIDS
HIV destroys TH cells
depresses both branches of adaptive immunity and throws the whole immune system out of whack
body is no longer able to fight off any infection and even small infections are magnified
HIV to AIDS
It now considered an acquired immunedeficiency syndrome, CD4 count is now >200
very little CD4 cells are present to fight infections the mutated virus has taken over and leaves little if any way for body to fight off foreign bacteria or viruses more likely to get opportunistic infections and opportunistic cancers
Antibiotics for treatment
Antibiotics are used to treat Bacterial infections not viral infections because an antibiotic has non way to target and kill a virus since it inserts its genetic material in DNA in order to reproduce mutated cell
Antibiotics can be given to treat other infections caused by the weakened immune system
Aids symptoms you may experience
swollen lymph nodes, fever, night sweats, chronic diarrhea, white spots or lesions on tongue or in mouth, persistent fatigue, weight loss and skin rashes
if left untreated your immune system becomes to damaged to fight off life threatening infections or cancers which could result in death
organs involved in immune system Spleen, MALT (appendix, tonsils and Peyer's patch) lymph nodes, and thymus
cells involved in immune system B cells, plasma cell, T cells (TH cell, TC cell, Treg cells), memory cell and antigen-presenting cell
molecules involved in immune system antigen, antibody, perforins, complement and cytokines
TH cells help activate B cells and other lymphocytes such as Tc cells Treg cells and macrophages. Which is the bodies third line of defense adaptive defenses against viruses. CD4 cells usually become TH cells once activated
Lytic cycle: Hiv virus targets CD4 cells once virus is inside cell it produces viral enzyme reverse transcriptase to produce DNA from its RNA. Lysogenic cycle : provirus inserts itself into target cell and directs it to reproduce new copies of viral RNA and proteins and infect other cells. HIV is highly mutative and develops drug resistance
If TH cells are destroyed body won't stimulate production of cytotoxic T cells and plasma cells or activate macrophages or release cytokines ,CD8 cells can't kill invaded cells
Aids :acquired immunodeficiency syndrome if HIV is not treated with HIV antviral and causing the virus to progress rapidly
HIV :human immunodeficiency virus transmitted in body secretions blood, semen, and vaginal secretions
