Post-acute care solutions/teaching:
-After an acute episode, it is important to teach about the appropriate diet and how she should eat small, frequent meals and take vitamin supplements. By discussing diet, it will avoid inflammation and that cause acute episodes (Hoffman & Sullivan, 2017).
-She should be taught about how avoiding alcohol and tobacco with also prevent further inflammation (Hoffman & Sullivan, 2017) .
-Symptoms, disease progression, procedures, and interventions should be discussed and reinforced because it will lead to early intervention and less acute episodes (Hoffman & Sullivan, 2017).
-Education on medications and the importance of taking proton pump inhibitors, pancreatic enzymes to help with digestion and absorption of nutrients (Hoffman & Sullivan, 2017).
-Patient also needs to understand the importance of pain management and the intense chronic pain that chronic pancreatitis can cause (Hoffman & Sullivan, 2017).
