Conflict
"We got an iron man now, a man with guts"(Bradbury 10).
Eckels changed history when he stepped on the butterfly. Now the dictator is the president. He was warned that the smallest action could change history.
Indirect characterization
“So they’re dead,” said Eckels “So what?”(Bradbury 3).
This shows how careless Eckels is and how he does not think about the consequences of his actions. This is significant he ruins the future by stepping on the butterfly
Simile
“sheathed over in a gleam of pebbled skin like the mail of a terrible warrior”(Bradbury 5).
This describes the skin of the dinosaur like chain mail of a warrior. So it is emphasizing how strong the dinosaur’s skin is. It is like armour.

“The machine slowed, it;s scream fell to a murmur”(Bradbury 2).
The machine stopped making noise which meant they had arrived.
Irony
“We were fools to come This is impossible”(Bradbury 6).
Situational irony
Eckels was really anxious to see the T rex and he is an experienced hunter. We expect him to be able to shoot the dinosaur. The opposite happens because he runs away scared.

“Not a little thing like that! Not a butterfly!”(Bradbury 10).
The butterfly represents the butterfly effect which is the concept that the smallest action can make a big impact. He changed the future by killing the small butterfly
direct characterization
The time travel company is being careful so they do not mess up history.
"But until we know for certain what whether our messing around in time can make a big roar or a little rustle in history, we're being careful"(Bradbury 4).
