Dialects: A dialect is a variety of a language that is characteristic of a group. A dialect is distinguished by its vocabulary (lexicon), grammar (syntax), pronunciation (phonology and prosody (intonation, tone, stress, patterns of an utterance), and registers (pragmatics).
