When the English first settled in the new world, one of their major cash crops was tobacco. This lead to a boost in the economy.
The Triangular Trade pattern was a trade route of America, Europe, and Africa's resources and technologies.
The Regulator Movement was citizen's collective action to provide law and order.
Eliza Lucas Pinckney took individual action and learned to plant indigo and shared this knowledge with other farmers. This lead to indigo becoming a major cash crop.
The individual action of a few slaves inspired the Stono rebellion. This rebellion led to the creation of slave codes.
The first English people to settle in S.C were from Barbados. They brought the idea of slavery with them.
South Carolina was a very prosperous colony due to waterways and being located near the coast. These methods of trade heavily supported the colony.
The Yemassee Native Americans lived on beaches. Because of this,their diet consisted mainly of clams and oysters.
Gullah is slave language which combined English words with African Grammar. Slaves used Gullah to communicate, while still preserving their culture.
A conflict in the upcountry was lack of a government. This was changed by the Regulator Movement.
North ans South Carolina split because: there was little communication between the two; it was difficult to govern a large coloney; and they were divided by mountains in the West.
A conflict S.C faced was finding sustainable servants to work the plantations. S.C then changed from indentured servants and Native Americans to African slaves.
