When the population of the New World grew, slaves were needed to do work on plantations.
England (Mother country), used mercantilism to gain wealth from the colonies in the New World.
Slaves were so tired of working for the plantation owners, they started the Stono Rebellion which consisted about 27,000 slaves. But the rebellion did not work, instead laws were made to limit the rights of the slaves.
