Location/Geography
The southern colonies were very successful because they had warm weather, and they can grow crops. The Middle colonies spanned the Mid-Atlantic region of America and were temperate in climate with warm summers and cold winters.

The first permanent English settlement was established in 1653. Climate and geography divided the new colonies into three separate regions: New England, Middle colonies, and Southern colonies.
The soil was perfect for farming, and the growing season was longer than in any other region.
