        Compare the poetic techniques used in the poems spread on your table. Which words are emphasised by stress and rhythm? What do you notice?
        
        Task 4
        Notice that some of the poems on your table are modern rap songs. Discuss how far it can be argued that rap music is modern poetry. Use your texts and poetic terminology sheets to justify your opinion.
        
        Task 5
        Compose your own poem (to be read or rapped) which should take the form of a Shakespearean sonnet (but may be in modern, plain English) and carefully incorporate 4-6 poetic techniques.

        Working in pairs, read aloud your assigned sonnet. Highlight the most important words in the poem that help you understand the theme and message.
        Now, work together to re-write each line in plain, modern English.
        
        Task 4
        Show the rest of the group your plain-English poem. Explain the theme and message of your poem to them.
        Now, listen to the other groups present their poem.
        
        Task 5
        Your poems all have different ideas about love. Discuss and debate which poem you think gives the most accurate representation of true love, and justify your opinion.

        Write a short poem on what you understand to be 'true love', using 3-4 of the poetic devices from your worksheet.

        In pairs, match the rules of true love on your worksheet to the line where they appear in Sonnet 116.
        
        Task 4
        Using your list of poetic devices and definitions, find where those devices are used in Sonnet 116. Listen to the Sonnet again and/or use the audio recordings of the definitions to help you.

        In your group, discuss Sonnet 116's rules for true lovers, and think about how far you agree with the list. Is there anything you would add or change? Explain what you think and justify your opinion.

        Write a short poem on what you understand to be 'true love', using 2-3 of the poetic devices from your worksheet.
