Values
Ethics
I had a patient recently who has been coming to our clinic for years, and each and every time he is NSPT .4 calculus. Once I got him in my chair and did my assessments, he once again needed NSPT treatment and had gotten worse rather than better from the previous treatment. Instead of thinking of myself and the requirements I still needed checked off, I dismissed him and told him he needed to go to the periodontist because there was no longer anything we could do for him at our clinic. I later called and checked on him to see if he had actually followed through with the periodontist, and he had an appt. scheduled.
Quality
Every day in clinic when I am seeing a patient I do not want to let a patient walk out unless they have had the best quality of care that I could give them. I want to do my job, and I want to be exceptional at it. Because if I'm not doing that, then there is no reason I should still be doing it.
Evaluation
I will always take constructive criticism. As of now take meetings with instructors seriously and take in all advice and suggestions. Once in private practice, get reviews from employer and converse with co-workers on what I am doing well & what I could do better.
