NEUTROPENIA Lower than normal of neutrophils (less than 2000/mm3) as a result of decreased production or increased destruction of these cells.

Clinical Manifestation
With neutropenia patients often do not exhibit classic signs of infection.. fever is a common indicator but will often be absent in patients with neutropenia.

Patient Teaching:
Identify s/s of infection: fever, chills, wet/dry cough, breathing problems, changes in character of urine.
Maintain a high calorie, high protein diet, with fluid intake of 3000 mL daily (unless fluids are restricted)

Maintain good hand hygiene, oral hygiene, total body hygiene and skin integrity.
Avoid fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables
