What does shock mean?
Shock is a syndrome characterized by the inability of the heart and / or peripheral circulation to maintain adequate perfusion of vital organs. It causes tissue hypoxia and cellular metabolic failure, either by low blood flow, or by an irregular distribution of it. It includes a set of symptoms, signs and analytical and hemodynamic alterations that require rapid identification and aggressive treatment to reduce their high mortality. (1)
