Transformational Leaders
Transformational Leaders change how the workforce think, reason and behave.
Great Person Theory
Follows the idea of "Great leaders are born, not made" You are either a natural leader or not
Adaptive Leadership
Leaders have to mobilize their workforce to thrive in whatever challenges that are given
Strengths
The theory has application as managers can train certain workers to become adaptive leaders
Weaknesses
The theory is subjective and has not been tested objectively by other researchers
Two Broad categories of leaders
Initiating Structure
Includes, assigning specific tasks to people, defining groups of workers, creating deadlines and ensuring that workers are working to a set standard
Consideration
This is shown by the leaders who have a genuine concern for the feelings of workers and their attitudes
Two main types of behaviors in leaders
Task-oriented behaviours
These are behaviors that focuses on the actual task being conducted.
Relationship-oriented behaviors
These are behaviors that are more faced on the wellbeing of the workforce and the leaders interpersonal relationships with them.
