        As stated on the site, "Open Library is an open, editable library catalog, building towards a web page for every book ever published". Aaron Swartz along with Brewster Kahle, Alexis Rossi, Anand Chitipothu, and Rebecca Malamud wanted to form a public domain in which all pages of every book could be catalogued, searched, for access to be provided online in scanned documents, prints or even links.

        Despite his new found fortune, Aaron continued to live in his small apartment, making very little changes to his way of life. His motives and passions did not waiver, and he only used his monetary gains to further search for means of open source, open access information
        
        Events Leading Up to His Arrest
        
        When the laptop was found in the basement of the MIT building, officials immediately knew what was happening, but instead of stopping downloads, they put a security camera to catch him and make a case.
        
        Days later, Swartz the camera caught Swartz replacing the hardrive and leaving, leading to his arrest
        
        After JSTOR cut off MIT from JSTOR database, Aaron connected the GHOST laptop directly to the servers in the building to continue downloading the articles, and uploading them onto his harddrive.
        
        September 24, 2010, Swartz purchased a laptop under Gary Host (Ghost_Laptop) to download scholarly articles from JSTOR database through MIT
- - - - Stephen Heymann was the main prosecutor, arguing that Aaron downloaded these articles to publish and make profit off exploiting JSTOR
        
        Previously, Aaron had racked up a history of analyzing and finding corrupt connection between for-profit research being manipulated to get the most favourable outcome. The prosecution used this against him.
    - - Quinn Norton was offered a Queen for a Day offer, for an interview with her by Heymann, and gave in under pressure form her lawyers, causing distress between her and Aaron.

        Aaron was indited on four counts of felony offenses. He went to surrender, he was strip searched, and left in solitary confinement. Facing 35 yrs in prison and facing a million dollar fine, he was released on a 100,000$ bail.
- - - - Although he was very confident in himself and loved to share his information and teach others, he soon felt trapped when reaching highschool.
  - - - Upon showing an interest and skill in technology, Aaron took the opportunities around him to join development communities, attend online conferences, and sat in on the court hearing of professor and attorney Lawrence Lessig, during his trial on copyright.

        Using his new found information about copyright and connection to Lawrence Lessig, Swartz was one of the early architects of Creative Commons and a developer of the Internet Archives’ Open Library, a free book database and digital library open to the public
