DEFINITATION
INFLAMMATION OF THE NEPHRONS
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Swelling of the body
Hypertension
Blood / pus in the urine
vomitting
Cloudy urine
Fever
Pain in the pelvis
Burning sensation while urinating
CAUSES
Infections (HIV and Hepatitis b &c
Pain relievers
Non-steroidical anti-inflammatory
Antibiotics

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Glomerular capillaries are lined by a fenested endothelium
Between the foot processes are the filtration slits are the glomerular filtration barrier
Filtration of plasma waterand solutes is extracellular
Albuminia alone may occur and leakage of all plasma proteins
Nursing care plan
Obtain vital signs
Note any swelling about the eyes
Weigh and measure to serve as a baseline
Inspect skin for pallor, Irritation or breakdown
Observe for oedema when perfoming physical examination
