Cells - the building blocks of every organism on the planet.
Cells can be Prokaryotic or Eukaryotic
Eukaryotic
Complex cells - all animal and plant cells
Plant cells - have all the bits animal cells have. They also have:
Permanent Vacuole - contains cell sap
Chloroplasts - where photosynthesis happens which makes food for the plant
Cell wall - made of cellulose - supports cell and strengthens it
small and simple cells - bacteria
subcellular structure:
cell wall
cell membrane
cytoplasm
a single loop of DNA (Bacteria don't have a true nucleus
plasmids - small rings of extra dna
Differences and Similarities in plant and animal cells
Nucleus - contains genetic material which controls what the cell does.
Cytoplasm - where most of the chemical reactions occur.
Cell membrane - controls what goes in and out of the cell.
Mitochondria - where most aerobic respiration happens, which transfers energy that the cell needs to work
Ribosomes - where the proteins are made in the cell.
