Character
A person in a novel, play, or movie. For example, The character can also be an animal.
Antagonist
A character who opposes the Protagonist. For example, The antagonist could be the "bad guy" or "Villain".
Protagonist
A character who is sometimes the "Hero" to the audience or readers. For example, In a story, "super man" could be the protagonist.
Conflict
A serious disagreement or argument. For example, a fight or disagreement among two characters.
External Conflict
A problem, antagonism, or struggle that takes place between a character and an outside force. For example, the character could be having a fight or a disagreement with his/her friend.
Internal Conflict
conflict within a character's mind. For example, internal conflict is when a character struggles in his mind and heart over a decision.
Rising action
Can include decisions, characters' flaws, and background circumstances that when put together, create turns and twists leading to the climax.
Falling Action
Defined as the parts of a story after the climax and before the end. An example of this can be found in the folktale "Red Riding Hood". The story reaches the climax when the wolf announces that he will eat the young protagonist. The series of events that happen after this conflict to lead to the resolution are the falling actions.
Denouement
Usually the final outcome of the story. For example, the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved.

Third Person Limited
The narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of one character. For example, Characters are described with the pronouns "they, he , and she".
Third person omniscient
A point of view in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of the characters. For example, The narrator knows that a character is sad, and knows what that character is thinking.
Expositsion
The beginning of the story where the characters and setting are introduced. For example, we meet Luke Skywalker, the main character. The exposition continues as we learn that Luke lives with his uncle, his father is dead, and he doesn't enjoy life on a farm.
foil
Can be a character who contrasts with another character, usually the protagonist. For example, A foil is a character that gets the reader to focus on another character. You can also "Foil" someones's plans to make that person fail.
Flashback
A scene or event that happened previously. A past event. For example, A flashback in a book or film is when the current plot is interrupted so that a scene which previously occurred can be shared with the reader. ... Examples of Flashback: 1. In a story about a girl who is afraid of heights, there is a flashback to a time when she fell off of the top of a playground as a young child. 2.
Foreshadow
The narrator gives a hint as to what will possibly happen next in the story. For example, The narrator just gives a hint about what will happen in the next scene.
Point Of View
Point of view is the angle of considering things, which shows us the opinion or feelings of the individuals involved in a situation. For example, the narrator can tell the story in "First Person" point of view by using "I".
Climax
The climax is the peak of the action and the turning point in the story. For example, After the climax everything changes.
