        Wentworth House School was a private school located on Flitwick road, however this closed in 1954 due to a lack of funding and re-opened as Redborne upper school. County Primary school then took pupils from other primary schools up to the age of 11 where they then transferred to Redborne.

        Until the 1960s these shops were popular in Ampthill. - Leonard Bennet's shoe makers, boot makers and a saddler on Dunstable street. Whereas Arthur Street had Rosa Wicks beer retailer, Frederick Simms tailor and a fishmonger.
