Image 20 1925, ordnance survey map of the town. There is a greater proportion of urbanised land, surrounding the town centre. With land broken up into different fields or gardens. There is a secondary employment just outside the main town (on Oliver Street)- 'iron works', which is not present now. But the extent of it suggests it was a mean employment feature of Ampthill at this time. Oliver Street is also less urbanised, with a stretch of allotments coming of it. Within the town centre, it appears there area a number of 'back to back houses', but overall there is much more space between properties and less crammed- like they are now.
