To play off of the idea of "oriental". The orchestra; arrangement could consist of traditional Chinese instrumentation.

Although I didn't have the explicit understanding through the Saidian lens of "Orientalism," in my first read through of the play, I already perceived a divide between Song and Gallimard. I pictured a vast height difference between the two, and I could hear the femininity of Song's voice.

There is a constant play on culture. The clothing should reflect the "oriental" style (going back to Said's Orientalism).

the appropriation of women also plays on the expectation of the audience (the misogyny of the 60's female stereotype...but it is disrupted by Song's identity reveal.
