Sustainability of natural resources
Fossil fuels
Conserving energy
Natural resources
Anything in nature that people value.
Air, water, fossils, plants and animals are natural resources.
Plastic is not a natural resource
There are two types renewable and non-renewable
Reducing, reusing, and recycling will conserve our resources.
Energy sources
Recycling
Solar energy
Population growth
Earth can only hold a certain amount of people
About 200 years there was a great increase in the number of people
More people causes more pollution and using up resources faster
In about 10 years there will be more than 8 billion people on earth
Humans need to use more renewable resources
Recycling
Soil
Soil is a mix of water, rocks, and dead stuff
Weathering breaks rocks into small pieces called sediments
Erosion moves the sediment to different places
Rocks and humus help plants grow
Soil has different layers and the topsoil has the most humus
Plants cannot grow in bedrock so we must protect the topsoil
Air pollution
Powerplants, factories and stoves all cause pollution
Acid rain is an affect of air pollution
Smog is made by air and fog and is unhealthy to breath
