ORCHITIS DISEASE
DEFINITION
Inflammation of one or both testicles
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Caused by viral or bacterial infection
Such as sexually transmitted infections
And in some cases mumps.
CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
Swelling in 1 or both testicle.
Nausea and vomiting.
Pain.
Malaisia.
Fever.
RISK FACTORS
Not getting immunization against mumps.
Having recurring UTI.
Having surgery involving testicle.
Born with abnormalities in Urinary tract.
Multiple sex partners.
Unprotected sex.
Sexually Transmitted infections.
COMPLICATIONS
Infertility.
Srotal abscess.
Testicular atrophy.
DIAGNOSTIC STUDIES
Urine test.
Ultrasound.
STI screen.
TREATMENT/ MANAGEMENT
Apply Cold packs on scrotum .
Bed rest.
Non-steriodical Anti-inflammatory drugs.
Avoid lifting heavy objects.
Lie down with scrotum elevated.
