Testicular torsion
It occurs when a testicle is mobile and the spermatic cord twists, cutting off the blood supply.
Pathophysiology
The testis twists on the spermatic cord, thus interrupting its blood supply. There is sudden swelling of the scrotum, severe pain and nausea and vomiting may be experienced. The torsion cause ischaemia to the testes leading to necrosis.
