Pathophysiology

• The antigen-antibody complexes in the circulation stimulates inflammation which results in the damage of the kidney
• When the glomerulus is injured its membrane porosity is increased allowing protein and RBC to filter through with the glomerular filtrate into the renal tubules resulting in proteinuria and haematuria
