A group of MPs that have been brought together to investigate a bill or issue as requested by parliament. Their role is to investigate an area of law that needs to be introduced, reviewed or changing. It is comprised of different political parties and houses. Different types - joint investigatory (both houses, investigate many issues), domestic (one house, operations of parliament), select (one house, particular issue then dissolve) and standing (one house, investigate many issues in a particular area)
